RES BUYS WATER PUMP TO BENEFIT MORE THAN 15 000 EMASWATI

NJAKENI – RES Corporation has donated a water pump worth E56 000 to benefit more than 15 000 Njakeni community members.

Njakeni is situated in the north-eastern part of the Lubombo region, a few kilometres from the sugar companies’ vicinity.

RES Group Public Affairs Manager Sifiso Nyembe and his team handed over the pump to the community last Friday (April 22, 2022).

Presenting the water pump Nyembe said; “Clean water is key for a quality life. Without water, life—animal, plant, or human—cannot exist. Without water, any one of us cannot live a healthy life.”

“Everybody knows that?80% of illnesses are linked to poor water and sanitation conditions?and?10% of the global disease could be reduced through improved water supply, sanitation, and hygiene.”

Nyembe applauded community members for coming together in partnership with RES in the water project.

“It is pleasing to note that the community has made monetary contributions for paying the technicians who will install the pump because such requires expertise.”

The sugar company’s spokesperson further put emphasis on the relationship between the company and neighbouring communities.

“We have a very strong relationship with our communities, the value that RES shares with communities is incalculable and the same applies to the hospitality of the communities to the company. We are mutually beneficial. Hence, RES is always looking at ways to uplift communities because we have a strong relationship that we want to keep strong.”

Njakeni Royal Kraal Indvuna Alpheus Magagula highly praised RES for the commendable contribution that the company has made to the community and extended the community’s leadership appreciation.

“The chiefdom of this area is grateful for the good deed from the sugar company and we are speechless because we have been having the challenge for more than 6 months. We are delighted that RES has come to our rescue.”

On behalf of the community members, Timothy Kunene said: “As a community we are grateful for this significant donation and the speech from the company’s representative which shows that RES really cares about people. As a community we benefit a lot from RES because a majority of community members are employed by the company and their families can put food on the table because of the existence of RES.”
