Royal Eswatini (RES) Corporation has heightened its contribution in the fight against coronavirus (Covid-19) and donated E225 000 worth of hand sanitisers to be distributed to the Lubombo regions Health facilities.

The company presented the donation to Lubombo Regional Administrator Themba Msibi on Tuesday.

The RA is also heading the Lubombo Task team, which is made of various committees tasked with facilitating and monitoring initiatives which are aimed at minimising the spread of Coronavirus.

A total of 35 Clinics and health centres will benefit from the donation. This comes shortly after Msibi appealed to companies and non-government organizations in the region to join hands with the regions task team in fighting the virus

When making the presentation, RES Corporation, General Manager Commercial, Muhawu Maziya disclosed that the donation was originally pledged to the National Resource Mobilization committee at Happy Valley recently.

He stated that the company classified the global pandemic as a devastating outbreak, and was fully committed to supporting Eswatini Government in the fight against its spread.

Maziya further disclosed that the management of the company made a decision to manufacture sanitisers when the outbreak started early this year so that it would be easy to fight the virus.

“it would not have been easy for the company to make such a significant contribution to fight against the pandemic if we did not take swift action to counter the pandemic”, he said.

Maziya said that the management understood that such a pandemic did not only have a negative impact on health but also the economy of the country, hence the donation of the sanitisers.

Meanwhile, RES Corporation Group Public Affairs Manager Sifiso Nyembe added that the COVID-19 pandemic was a concern, not only to Government entities but also to private sectors.

Nyembe said that the donation was in partnership with Government as the fight against the virus needed to be intensified.

Also, the RA thanked the company for the donation, saying the region was grateful to have a company that prioritized gibing back to communities and intervening in times of need. Msibi said that Government was currently in need of all available assistance in eradicating the virus.

“The region has strongly encouraged the private sector to assists in fighting the spread and the kid gesture from RES confirms that the company is committed to the nation and also the region”, said Msibi

The RA disclosed that the donated sanitisers would be distributed to 35 health facilities, prioritising those which are situated near the company. They include Mafucula, Vuvulane, Lomahasha, Shewula and Tsambokhulu.
