RES CORP BUYS E89 000 WORTH EQUIPMENT FOR SIYAKHA

Royal Eswatini Sugar Corporation continues to play a significant role towards the development of sports in the country.

The company has purchased equipment worth E89 000 for Siyakha 1800.

Siyakha covers juniors between 6 - 10 years, U-13, U-15 and their aim is to help keep children off the streets.

Initially, 1 800 was the tragetted number but the figures have since grown to 4 000.

This includes both boys and girls. The new consignment consists of 100 Mikasa soccer balls (size 3), 100 bibs, cones, referees caution cards, pumps, nets and bags for the balls amongst others.

RES CSI Manager Phindile Lukhele said the equipment would help in the smooth running of the programme. "We remain committed to help in the development of football in the country. This is part of our CSI and we believe beneficiaries of the programme see its significance. We encourage participants to take care of the equipment."

Lukhele said they were hoping the equipment would encourage the youngsters to take part in the programme. Lubombo Regional Football Association (LRFA) Chief Operations Officer, Bonginhlanhla Gama said they were happy to receive the equipment. "We have already received the equipment and we thank RES for this kind gesture. They have been with us for the past years and we are really grateful. Their contribution towards the development of sport in the country can never go unnoticed," he said.

RES Managing Director Nick Jackson is fully behind the project. The company recently announced E350 000 for the LRFA development league. Ladies national team duo of Sikhanyiso Magagula and Simangele Sikhondze are products of Siyakha.
