RSSC MD A HEALTH PIONEER WITHIN THE SUGAR COMPANY

The higher your energy level, the more efficient your body. The more efficient your body, the better you feel, and the more you will use your talent to produce outstanding results.

This is what RSSC MD Nick Jackson, who is the SWABCHA star MD of the year believes in.
Jackson was speaking during the presentation of E10 000 cash to be shared equally by four different support groups operating within the RSSC community.
A support group is a group of people with a shared concern or interest with the aim of providing emotional, physical and/or financial support to themselves or other people.
The benefitting support groups were namely; Imphilo Lendze Wellness Support Group, Mhlume Estate Wellness Champions’ Support Group, Sakhalive Wellness Champions’ Support Group and Sibane Wellness Support Group.
“I am always engulfed with joy when I get the opportunity to give something out for a good cause. Today, each support group will receive a sum of E2 500 and this amount is not coming from RSSC coffers, but these are the proceeds of the MD’s Health and Wellness dinner which was held earlier in February,” Jackson said.
Jackson added that health and wellness issues will always remain a high priority within the management of the sugar company because it relates to employees, who are key to the day-to-day operations of RSSC.
“These support groups are also key in fighting HIV/AIDS related issues. In 2014, UNAIDS committed to ambitious testing and treatment targets to end the AIDS epidemic. By 2020, 90% of all people living with HIV will know their HIV status. By 2020, 90% of all people with diagnosed HIV infection will receive sustained antiretroviral therapy. By 2020, 90% of all people receiving antiretroviral therapy will have viral suppression. The targets increase to 95% for testing, treatment, and viral suppression by 2030. RSSC is fully behind the government of Eswatini in achieving this global mandate,” Jackson added.
Noteworthy, the support group assist the community with food parcels, school uniforms to needy pupils, support to people living with HIV/AIDS and other community development and assistance projects. Some of them grow vegetables and sell them to get profits which then support their initiatives.
Speaking on behalf of the support groups, Raymond Magagula said; “We would like to thank the Managing Director for his support towards the groups. We started our group with only E75 per group member which was the joining fee. We then saw the need for monthly subscriptions. We now have E4 000 in our bank account. We will continue to work tirelessly in ensuring that our objective of helping the less fortunate and fighting HIV/AIDS is achieved. We thank RSSC for always making the means to support the groups because we cannot solely depend on the monthly subscriptions and sales of the vegetables from the gardens.”
On another note, Jackson also wished the groups high yields in their vegetable production projects.
