6th RSSC BIGGEST LOSER CHALLENGE LAUNCHED TO KEEP EMPLOYEES HEALTHY


Healthy and happy employees are sick less often; they have more energy and tend to be more engaged at work



Improving the health and well-being of employees offers a ‘win-win’ all around. Employees benefit from better support for their health. Companies benefit from less absence and improved productivity. And society benefits from improved public health.

RSSC continues to make it an obligation to offer health and wellness programmes to employees. Through the Biggest Loser Challenge Season 6, which has attracted more than 130 employees this year.

RSSC Managing Director Nick Jackson when launching the health and wellness initiative last week Thursday, said; “For this reason, creating a culture of good health is a wise organisational strategy. Meaningful wellness programmes are an effective way of supporting employees to build and maintain healthy lifestyles. Increasingly, organisations report positive returns on investment for their wellness programmes.”

“The choice that you have made to partake in the Biggest Loser Challenge is a healthy one and you have done well for your wellbeing. Learn, acquire skills and be a role model to others.”

Jackson further expressed pride of the Biggest Loser Challenge where he mentioned that the challenge has proven to be effective to employees who participated over the past five years.

“This is the sixth season with the highest enrolment of 180 employees. The package looks good with guidance on diet, physical activity that allows access to our own gyms and participation in other lifestyle initiatives,” Jackson highlighted.

Among the rules of this year’s challenge are; no dropping out, all participants should reach target weight and beat the highest record target of the year 2016 which was 56.9% fat loss versus a target of 44.5% by males and 24.9% fat loss by females.

“Prizes are surely going to be of a gym equipment, which include four glyde cycles,” Jackson added.

This year’s competition is packed with a number of benefits for all participants such as: free entry to Brave the Breast Walk, Magadzavane-Mlawula Walk, Sibebe Survivor and Imbube Marathon; Free meal plan and free access to RSSC Gyms and Fitness Zone Facilities countrywide for the duration of the challenge.

Weekly prizes for the participants consist of; exercise balls, weight scales, hand grips, dumb bells, kettle bells, massager and skipping ropes, just to mention a few.

Jackson further urged all employees who have not taken part in this year’s competition to look for ways of staying healthy and fit.
