E104 000 BOOST FOR PRE-SCHOOLS WITHIN RSSC ESTATE

Toys are tools to help children learn about themselves, their environment, and to develop critical thinking skills that they need in life.

The Royal Swaziland Sugar Corporation has bought educational toys worth E104 000 for children in three pre-schools, popularly known as ‘Tinkhulisa’ within the company estate. The Tinkhulisa centres are based at Simunye, Ngomane and Mhlume.

Tinkhulisa Centre Supervisor Grace Silombo said; “We are grateful for RSSC support because these pre-schools benefit a lot of children, not only company employees’ beneficiaries but also the entire community.”

RSSC Group Public Affairs Manager Sifiso Nyembe said the acquisition of the learning material was as a result of the company’s joint effort with UNICEF to ensure that issues associated with early childhood development are resolved and minimised for these children.

Silombo added; “This will not only enrich the children’s educational play experiences , but will also improve hand-eye coordination and other fine motor skills that will make learning more successful.”

Nyembe said; “Statistics show that as a country we need to focus on early child development, and these are the first steps by RSSC. Educational toys are a fantastic way for children to learn whilst having fun. They are the fundamentals of problem solving, physical development and social skills.”

The sugar company also provides the three preschools with E33 000 per term worth of food supplies, 18 bags of sugar (25kg) per annum and 18 LP gas cylinders.

Recently RSSC employees painted one of the preschools based at Mhlume where the employees from various departments cooked, painted the preschool and played with the children.
