EMPLOYEES REWARDED FOR SAVING "DVULADVULA" AT RSSC

Saving entails sacrifice; maybe that's why it brings rewards as RSSC gave acknowledged employees who saved a portion of their performance bonus.

The sugar company rewarded employees who invested a certain percentage of their performance bonuses popularly known as ‘dvuladvula’ which was paid out at the end of July. The competition dubbed RSSC Investment Raffle Draw had various categories which included an investment and debt management raffle draw.  The prize categories under the investment raffle draw were as follows; 10 bags of cement for investing 15 per cent to 30 per cent of the bonus as a third prize, a 5000 litres water tank for investing 31 per cent to 50 per cent as a second prize, a bathroom set for investing 51 per cent to 70 per cent as a first prize and the grand prize was an air conditioner 18000 BTU split unit for investing above 70 per cent of the bonus. On the other hand, under the debt management raffle draw were as follows; toilet set for paying 50 per cent to 80 per cent of the bonus and a 100L geyser for paying 81 per cent to 100 per cent.  RSSC MD Nick Jackson said; “the aim is to help employees improve their financial wellbeing in line with the company’s Employee Value Proposition objectives whose aim is to empower, enable and to improve engagement levels within the company.” He added that under the debt management category, personal finance empowerment workshops were held across the organisation to empower employees to develop a culture of saving and financial planning.  “In light of the payment of a performance bonus for 2017/18 financial year, a competition was open to all employees to invest or make payment to clear debts from their performance bonuses,” Jackson said. Meanwhile, RSSC Group Public Affairs Manager Sifiso Nyembe said the corporation’s management strives to ensure that employees are able to save their income to secure their finances for the future. “We all do not what the future holds for us and it is through investments that one can survive and live a happy life even after retirement,” Nyembe said.
